Each year VFHS awards grants to member organizations for spay/neuter services and programs in an effort to decrease intake in shelters across our state.

2010

In April 2010, VFHS had funds to award spay/neuter grants to six member organizations that totaled $20,000. These grants resulted in the spay/neuter surgeries of 537 animals through a variety of creative programs. Organizations receiving the grants were:

  • Twin County Humane Society to provide spay/ neuter before adoption
  • Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society to spay/neuter all hounds and beagles before adoption
  • Voices for Animals for feral cat surgeries in two targeted zip codes
  • SPCA of Nelson County to spay/neuter known feral colonies
  • Richmond SPCA for free feral surgeries
  • Louisa SNAP for feral surgeries for known feral colonies
2011

In May 2011, VFHS was again able to award $20,000 in Spay/Neuter Grant Funds to the following seven organizations:

  • Animal Defense League of Washington County
  • Animal Rescue of Tidewater
  • Fauquier SPCA
  • Madison-Greene Humane SocietySpay/Neuter All Pets, Inc. (SNAP)
  • SPCA of Northern Virginia
  • Spay/Neuter All Pets, Inc. (SNAP)
  • Twin County Humane Society, Inc.

Please consider making a donation to VFHS so that we will be able to continue to fund spay/neuter grants to Virginia animal welfare organizations in 2012!
